Record Rounds Played at Hillsview in 2016
Pierre, S.D. – The 2016 season brought a new record to Hillsview Golf Course for the number of rounds played.
Between March and November this year, 31,466 rounds were played at Pierre’s Municipal Golf Course. More than 1,250 of those rounds were played in November.
Carin Hayn, Hillsview Manager, says that there are a number of factors that contributed to this year’s success.
“I think Mother Nature gets a lot of credit for this year’s numbers,” said Hayn. “We saw a lot of late season play thanks to this year’s unseasonably warm November.”
Hayn went on to say that regardless of weather, the impact of the enthusiastic golfing community can’t be overlooked.
“We have many die-hard golfers in the area. Their support of our local course is certainly noted and appreciated.”
Pierre Parks and Recreation Director Tom Farnsworth says that Hayn and Course Superintendent, Dean Heymans are certainly paramount to the course’s success as well.
“From the condition of our course, to the operations of the business, the Pierre community is very lucky to have such top-notch staff running and maintaining the facility.”
During this year’s 243 day season, Hillsview hosted nearly 36 tournaments, as well as group outings, three different leagues, the high school golf program and two weeks of junior golf programming.
Hillsview officially closed for the season Nov. 14 and will open this spring as soon as weather conditions allow.
